About the role

Due to unprecedented growth we are seeking three (3) experienced Art Crating technicians:

  • Three (3) positions available at our Sydney office located at Mascot

You will be working in a bespoke fabrication workshop. Reporting to the Crating Manager, this position is part of a team that specialises in the production of museum crates for fine arts shipping, as well as the packing and installation of artworks and objects.

Benefits and perks

Fulltime position with total remuneration range $59,220 – $75,088 pa plus super & overtime.

Skills and experience

  • Experience in museum standard crate construction, interior fitout & packing of artworks and objects
  • Carpentry, joinery and or framing skills required.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing the manual aspects of the role
  • Attention to detail
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with team members and key stakeholders on complex projects
  • Driver’s License preferred
  • Fork Lift Licence is an advantage
  • Good presentation
  • A national police check will be undertaken for successful applicants

Full position description:

  • Design and manufacture of custom, high specification, museum quality crating for national and international shipment of artworks and museum artefacts.
  • Design and manufacture of customised form fitting internal object supports and fit-outs.
  • Handling, care, storage, packing and crating and installation procedures for museum collection artworks and objects
  • Read and process crate designs to given specifications.
  • Operate power tools and related equipment to manufacture individually designed crates, stillages travel frames
  • Knowledge of general workshop safety and the following power tools and their recommended safety requirements: table saw, radial arm saw, panel saw, belt and orbital sanders, pneumatic staplers and nailers, biscuit joiners, band saws, power drills and an assortment of other hand tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISPM-15 compliancy including records management, traceability and conformity.
  • Stock control, understanding of materials and their applications.
  • Use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Artwork and object installation and de-Installation
  • Operation of handling and installation equipment (Forklift, Gantry and Hoist)
  • Drivers Licence, Forklift and Elevated Platform Tickets preferred
